How do the various POSA series differ from one another?
The mats differ in the materials used for the surface and the base, and in thickness, weight, and intended use. To make it easier to understand the different series, we have put together this detailed guide on choosing a mat.
Why choose an Align mat?
Align mats are very lightweight: just 850 grams and 6 mm thick. Even a child would have no problem carrying it around. Practicing on them is peak comfort--Align mats have more cushioning and they're great for those with sensitive joints. The symmetrical alignment markings on the mat help you construct asanas, maintain control of your body's position during practice, and note your progress while mastering new poses.
Is the Align mat a good choice for beginners/professionals?
Align mats are appropriate for beginners and experienced practitioners alike.
Will the Align mat work for ashtanga/Bikram/hot yoga?
Since the surface on Align series mats does not absorb moisture, it is not appropriate for hot and sweaty practice. For intense and/or sweaty practice, we recommend looking at mats from the NonSlip Travel, NonSlip Pro, and Asana Travel series.
Will the Align mat work for gymnastics, fitness, or stretching?
Align mats are perfect for yoga as well as gymnastics, stretching, and bodyweight exercises.
What are the alignment markings on Align mats for?
The prints on Align mats are not just for decoration, they're also a practical tool. The alignment markings help you construct your asanas and control the positioning of your body, lifting the quality and effectiveness of your sessions. Since the markings are engraved into the mats, you don't need to worry about them fading away.
How strong is Align's grip with moist or dry hands?
Align mats are designed for practice with dry or moderately moist hands. If your hands have started sweating, the mat will hold you. For more intense and/or sweaty practice, we recommend looking at mats from the NonSlip Travel, NonSlip Pro, and Asana Travel series.
Does the Align mat slide along the floor?
The base of the Align mat is made with non-slip TPV material. The unique texture provides a secure connection with the floor and does not allow the mat to move around during practice. The grip with the floor may be significantly weaker during intense practice on matte laminate surfaces.
In what situations is the Align mat not appropriate?
The Align mats are not appropriate if you engage in intense, sweaty practice or your hands sweat heavily. If that is the case, we recommend looking at mats from the NonSlip Travel, NonSlip Pro, and Asana Travel series.
Features and specifications
What are the dimensions of Align mats?
Align mats are 183x61 cm; these dimensions are optimal for comfortable practice based on the average size of an adult of European descent (177 cm for men and 169 cm for women). It provides the ideal amount of comfort during workouts while allowing us to keep the mat's weight and bulk to a minimum. The mats are 6 mm thick.
Do you offer Align mats with larger dimensions?
All POSA mats come in our standard 183x61 cm size.
How comfortable is the Align mat's thickness? Is it hard on the knees/elbows?
Align mats are 6 mm thick. This thickness allows you to complete any stands or asanas that focus on the knees/elbows with maximum comfort. It also works great for lengthy meditation sessions.
Can I use the Align mat for balancing poses?
This mat will provide a stable platform for balancing poses, including those on one hand or foot. However, if you have never practiced on a 6 mm mat before, it may take some time to get used to it.
How much does the Align mat weigh?
The Align mat weighs just 850 g. While developing the mat, we took ease of transport into consideration so you could practice not just at home, but could also take the mat to the studio or the outdoors, or on a trip halfway around the world. That's why we chose a very lightweight, compact, high-quality TPV material.
What material is the Align mat's upper surface made of?
The surface is made of SBS, a third-generation elastic synthetic rubber that belongs to the category of durable elastomers. In contrast to natural rubber, it is four times more lightweight while maintaining a high level of durability and adhesion to a wide spectrum of materials. It's completely safe and hypoallergenic. SBS is widely used in manufacturing various products such as chewing gum, automobile tires, and medical devices.
What does the Align mat's surface feel like?
The upper surface of the Align mat is very soft and plushy, similar to the texture of a velvet hair scrunchie. It helps to raise the satisfaction level of your practice.
What is the Align mat's base made of?
The Align mat's base is made of thermoplastic vulcanisates. This is an all-synthetic hypoallergenic material that has excellent shock absorption properties. It does not give off any sharp chemical odors. Due to the specialized texture, the mat maintains an exceptional grip with the floor.
How do mats made of SBS (such as the Align) differ from those made of TPE?
Third generation SBS elastic synthetic rubber, on par with variations of TPE, is part of the thermoplastic elastomer family. At first glance the materials seem the same, but upon deeper inspection the differences become clear. The most widespread TPE variations either have a more plastic feel, or alternatively have a foam structure, while brand new units often give off a sharp smell. Such mats may be deformed easily and/or slip more often. The SBS in Align mats has the structure of rubber, provides a high level of elasticity, quickly returns to form, offers excellent grip, and is very durable. SBS practically does not denature in a wide spectrum of temperatures and is used widely in manufacturing a variety of products including chewing gum, automobile tires, and medical devices, as well as in 3D printing. How durable are Align mats?
Thanks to the increased elasticity of its materials, Align mats are quite durable, which means they can stand up to regular practice and not lose their unique characteristics. For intense and more frequent practice (several times a day), we recommend NonSlip Pro or NonSlip Travel mats with a more resilient polyurethane surface.
Do Align mats stretch out during practice?
In every POSA mat, there's a special protective layer between the base and the surface that prevents stretching. In fact, the absence of stretching is what distinguishes a high quality yoga mat from a fitness mat or other cheap alternatives.
Do the corners of Align curl up?
If your Align mat has been rolled up tightly for a long time (for example, it's a brand new mat out of the box), then the edges may me slightly upturned for a short time. But with regular practice the mat's edges will flatten out very quickly. To ensure the mat flattens out properly and doesn't present any trouble for you, always roll your mat up with the top layer facing out.
Do Align mats have an odor?
A new mat may give off a mild rubber odor straight out of the box. It's not toxic or hazardous to your health. In general, the smell will dissipate anywhere from a couple hours to 1-3 days later. The intensity will depend on your individual sensitivity. To ensure the odor fades quickly, we recommend you unroll your mat in a well-ventilated area. Any further cleaning or processing of the mat is not necessary.
Do the Align mat's colors bleed?
Surface printing occurs during the manufacturing process of the material. The mat does not fade or leave dye residue. We use a hot engraving method to produce the design, so the print itself will not leave any residue.
Are the Align mat's materials safe for my skin?
The mats consist of stable polymers. All the materials are hypoallergenic and completely safe for people and animals as long as they are not consumed as food. The mats are antimicrobial, and they do not allow fungus, mold, and other microorganisms to survive or multiply. Still, we recommend you regularly wipe your mat down with a moist cloth so you won't leave these microorganisms to die on the surface of your mat ;)
What does the Eco-friendly label on your products mean?
The Eco-Friendly tag means that our products either do not cause harm to the environment, or they bring a minimal amount of harm with normal use. The mats are composed of stable polymers which are recyclable.
Use and care
Which side of the Align mat should I practice on?
The surface with the print and fine texture is the side you practice on. The surface with the dimpled texture should be touching the ground.
How do I properly roll the Align mat up?
Always roll up your mat up with the upper layer facing out. Proper mat storage will greatly extend its useful life.
Can I fold the Align mat instead of rolling it up?
Align mats should not be folded as that may damage the surface's material. Transporting and storing the mat should only be done while rolled up.
How should I care for my Align mat?
To ensure the mat retains its features for as long as possible. wash your palms and soles before each practice. Wipe your mat with a moist cloth to remove any dust or sweat residue after practice. Do not use soap or other products intended for your skin to clean your mat.
How do I clean my Align mat if it becomes heavily soiled?
Mix one drop of dish detergent or a couple dashes of laundry detergent powder into 500 ml of water, moisten a soft cloth with this solution, and wipe your mat down. Do not use soap or other products intended for your skin as they contain natural or synthetic oils and softening agents. They are difficult to wash off and may leave your surface slippery. Don't leave your mat to soak in water as this may cause the layers to separate. Only use a soft cloth or sponge. Using harsh sponges or brushes may damage the surface.
What's the best way to dry my Align mat out?
Leave your mat spread out for 5-10 minutes after using a moist cloth, or for 20-30 minutes after spraying it down. Don't dry your mat under direct sunlight, on a radiator, or near a heating element. Do not roll your mat up if it's still moist. Storing a mat that's not fully dry may significantly shorten its useful life.
Can I practice in shoes on the Align mat?
The mat maintains an exceptional grip with rubber surfaces, so it's possible to damage the surface with shoes, especially during dynamic workouts. When practicing in shoes, the surface of the mat will show visible signs of use.
Can I practice outdoors with the Align mat?
The Align mat is ideal for outdoor practice. It boasts an antistatic, non-absorbent surface. This type of mat has less dust sticking to it, and cleaning it doesn't require much effort or time. Do not lay your mat on sharp rocks, gravel, or other rough surfaces that may damage the mat's base.
What is the proper temperature range for using and storing the Align mat?
Don't store your mat near heating elements, under direct sunlight, or in below-freezing temperatures. Don't leave your mat for long periods in your car, especially on hot or freezing days.
Which situations might cause my hands to slip on the Align mat?
Your hands might slip on an Align mat if:
- You use hand lotion with silicon additives. In that case your skin may stay slippery for up to 72 hours;
- You wash your mat with soap or other products intended for skin;
- You don't take care of your mat on a regular basis--over time, it might become saturated with sweat and oil from your hands;
- You frequently practice in places with lots of dust, such as the outdoors;
- Your palms are too dry

Instructions for storing and cleaning are included in the box for each mat. If you've lost it, you can find a digital version on our site within the product card that corresponds to your mat series.

Which regions do you ship to?

We ship our products to many other countries, right to your front door or to your nearest post office. Options for delivery to your region will be confirmed by an associate during the checkout process and they may vary depending on the country.
How much does shipping cost?
The exact amount for shipping will be shown during the checkout process after you choose your region and shipping method. You can also check out our base shipping rates.
What shipping methods and times are available?
We offer shipping via standard and express postal services, as well as international shipping to your front door if that option is available in your region at checkout time. You can select a shipping method in your Shopping Cart. A customer service associate will confirm shipping availability upon checkout. Orders will be shipped within 3 days from the moment they are confirmed. Shipping times for international orders vary from 14-55 days, depending on the region. Shipping times may be longer during national holidays.
How can I track my order?
You'll receive a message with a tracking number and a link to track your shipment via email, SMS, or messenger apps.
How long will the pickup point hold my order for?
Holding times depend on the transport company and the terms of service of each specific pickup point. On average it ranges from 7-10 days. At post offices packages may be held for up to 20 days. If you do not pick up your package in time, it will be returned to us and you'll receive a refund minus the cost of shipping and return shipping.
Can I designate somebody else as a recipient?
If you know beforehand that someone else will be receiving your order, please indicate the recipient's details in the comments of your order, or send a message to an associate during checkout. After your order is shipped, we are not able to change the delivery address or the recipient's name. Most shipping companies will only deliver prepaid packages to the customer indicated on the shipping label. If you'd like to know whether it's possible for another person to receive your package for you, please confirm that option with the postal service or shipping company in your region.
Which payment methods are available?
You can pay for your purchase online after an associate confirms your order. Depending on your region and shipping method, some payment methods may not be available. You will be shown all the available payment methods while completing your order.
Can I pay for my order via bank transfer?
Bank transfer is not available at this time.
Discounts and bonus points
Why are there different prices for mats within the same series?
All mats within a single series are identical in regards to specifications and only differ in the color of the surface and the print. If we happen to have a larger stock of a certain print, the price may be slightly lower. Difference in price does not mean difference in quality.
Are there any special terms for instructors?
For instructors of yoga, fitness, stretching, and dance we offer a 25% discount off the product total of your order. While processing your order we will ask you to provide legitimate proof of your instructor status, for example a certificate of completion of an instructor course.
I teach without a certificate. Can I also receive instructor discount?
The discount is only offered to certified instructors. If you teach without a diploma or certificate that can prove your status, this discount will not be available.
I am still in the process of certification. Can I also receive the instructor discount?
The discount is only offered to certified instructors. You can receive this discount after completing your certification.
I would like to gift a mat to my instructor. Can I also receive the instructor discount?
The discount is not available based on another person's certification. The instructor would need to independently complete an order and confirm their status.
Can I combine a promo code discount with an instructor discount?
Promo codes cannot be combined with instructor discounts. You can only apply one discount to your order.
Can I combine discounts with accrued POSA bonus points?
Discounts and bonus points cannot be combined. You may only receive one discount for your order: either by promo code or by bonus points.
Do you offer birthday discounts?
No, our shop does not offer discounts for birthdays or other personal celebrations.
Do you offer gift cards?
We do not offer gift cards at this time.
How do I apply a promo code?
When completing your order, in the shopping cart type your code into the "Promo code" field and click the "Apply" button. If your "Instructor" practice level has been confirmed, then you will not be able to apply a promo code.

How can I find out if the mat I want is in stock?
Information about a particular model's inventory is shown in the catalog within the product's card. The status may show availability for purchase or preorder, or it may show out of stock. If you've seen a certain item in the past but it's no longer displayed on our site, that means the item has been discontinued. You can always get stock information for any item by asking one of our online consultants.
Are all the available color schemes displayed on the site?
