Features of the POSA Align mat series
The POSA Align series of mats for yoga and fitness is designed for dry and moderately sweaty practice. Peak grip is achieved on these mats after your palms have warmed up. The mat holds you at the beginning of practice when your hands and feet are still cold, and in the middle of a session when your palms have warmed up or even begun to sweat. The grip in these mats is provided by the nonslip TPV material and the special texture of the surface. Moisture from the palms and soles is pulled away and there's no opportunity for a water film, which is what causes slippage, to develop. This mat works great for yoga, fitness, and gymnastics. For beginners, this is a perfect first mat, and for advanced practitioners, it provides peaceful, steady sessions.
Surface features
This mat is just begging to be touched. The soft, velvety rubber surface allows you to enjoy your practice even more.
What type of practice is it made for?
POSA Align is ideal for hatha yoga and its variations, yoga nidra, meditation, and low- to medium-intensity gymnastics. You can use them for outdoor practice since these mats are easy to care for. They work very well for dancing and ballet because they offer excellent shock absorption. We recommend using them without shoes or in shoes with soft soles.
In which situations would it be better to choose a mat from a different series?
Since the surface of POSA Align mats don't absorb moisture, hot and sweaty practices such as hot yoga and Bikram yoga will not be comfortable for most users on these mats. We don't recommend this series for intense practice like ashtanga or power yoga where you have the potential to sweat heavily. For more intense practice we suggest looking at the NonSlip Pro, and for hot practice, the Asana Travel or NonSlip Travel.
Special symmetrical alignment markings
The alignment markings give you more control over your body positioning. Beginners will find it easier to check whether they're executing an asana correctly, and more advanced users can perfect their technique and note their progress while stretching or doing the splits.
Mat thickness for the POSA Align series is 6 mm
This mat will keep things comfortable for those with sensitive joints, as well as those who practice asanas on their elbows, shoulders, and heads. This thickness will protect your body from cooling down too quickly in shavasana or longer meditation sessions, even on a cold floor. The tough material lets you confidently maintain your balance, even while on just one hand or foot.
Mat size for POSA Align is 183x61 cm
This size was chosen based on the average size of an adult of European descent (177 cm for men and 169 cm for women). It provides the ideal amount of comfort during workouts while allowing us to keep the mat's weight and bulk to a minimum.
Mat weight is 850 grams
This is an ultra-lightweight mat that's easy to carry to the yoga studio or the outdoors. It works great for kids, teenagers, and elderly practitioners.
Reinforcing layer
The reinforcing layer inside the mat makes it safe to execute asanas that require you to spread your feet wide. It also extends the useful life of the mat by preventing rips.
Anti-static nonabsorbent surface
Caring for this mat is very simple—just wipe it down from time to time with a moist towel since dirt won't penetrate the structure. POSA Align mats don't build up static electricity from contact with hair and clothes, so less dust and grime sticks to the surface.
POSA Align mats are antimicrobial
They're made entirely of synthetic materials, which make it very difficult for mold, fungus, and other microorganisms to survive and spread. We recommend that you regularly wipe down the mat with a moist towel, and not allow living organisms to die on the surface of your mat ;)
POSA Align mats are eco-friendly
We know how important protecting the environment is for our customers, and that's why we use TPV materials in our production. In contrast to TPE and oxo-biodegradable ecoTPE, TPV is up to 100% recyclable.
POSA Align mats are non-toxic and hypoallergenic
They don't give off any pungent substances or gases while practicing in the heat, and also don't trigger allergies or irritate the skin.
What's the difference between POSA Align mats made of SBS and the more mainstream models made of variations of TPE?
Third generation SBS elastic synthetic rubber, on par with variations of TPE, is part of the thermoplastic elastomer family. At first glance the materials seem the same, but upon deeper inspection the differences become clear. The most widespread TPE variations either have a more plastic feel, or alternatively have a foam structure, while brand new units often give off a sharp smell.
Gorgeous POSA design
Yoga practice is not just physical work, but energetic work as well. We place a lot of emphasis on our design. Your sessions will bring you aesthetic pleasure, while your mat will become a new source of strength, where energy is expanded and health is fortified.
Safety measures
Follow these simple guidelines to extend the useful life of your mat and make your practice more comfortable:
- Wash your hands and feet before practice to remove the oil from your skin.
- Don't use hand creams or lotions before practice. Creams with silicon-based additives can make your skin slippery for up to 72 hours.
- Always roll your mat with the top layer facing out, otherwise the corners will begin to curl up and the surface will deteriorate.
- Don't bend or kink your mat inward, especially the printed layer. This may damage the exterior surface.
- Don't wear shoes during practice in order to extend the mat's useful life.
- Choose a level space for your practice. Uneven spots may damage the mat's base and cause injury during a failed attempt to exit an asana.
- Don't use soap or other agents meant for cleaning your body. They will establish an oily film. Use only a highly diluted dish detergent or laundry powder.
- Don't soak your mat and don't wash it with hot water. The ideal temperature is 30°C.
- Keep your mat away from the claws of animals.
- Keep your mat away from heating elements.
